SAP Hardware Sizing and benchmarking

SAP Sizing : Business capacity benchmark in SAP usually use SAPS number. 1 SAPS means around 10 transactions/hour business hardware capacity in an SAP system. The sizing is important in SAP upgrade and new SAP installation.

For sizing, you can use Quick Sizer tool from SAP from http://service.sap.com/quicksizer

Referring to processor product, example of SAPS power per CPU and their certification from SAP (CPU saps):
SAPS in ECC (e.g. sap ecc 6 sizing, sap nw 7 sizing) will have different sizing with saps number in BW/BI and other netweaver system. SAP Netweaver sizing is very basic without considering functionality inside the platform.
